Large scale projection mapping
Intro
This project was created for the 2024 edition of the Digital Graffiti event that takes place in Alys Beach, Florida. I was invited by my projection mapping professor John Colette, whom I am very thankful for giving me this opportunity.

My piece is called Cosmos. Its title is self-explanatory. It is meant to make the audience feel like they are witnessing the creation of the universe. When it comes to my process, I've created all the visuals inside Touchdesigner using different setups of the particlesGPU component. Later, I composited everything on After Effects using a template provided by professor Colette. You can have a more in-depth look of the process below.
Breakdown
Creating the visuals

First, I created these three individual pieces on Touchdesigner. I used the particlesGPU component to create them. By adjusting the parameters of the component, I managed to make the particles behave in different ways, leading to different shapes and movements.

I also used TOP operators to achieve different effects. For example, the circular motion of the first piece was created by the rotation of a Transform TOP inside of a Feedback loop and the symmetry of the second one happens due to a Mirror TOP.
Once I was feeling they all felt unified, I rendered them and moved the files to After Effects.

Composing the scene

Considering that this projection will take place on a specific building in Alys Beach, a template was provided.
After importing the template and my files into After Effects, I was ready to start compositing. I used mainly the Screen blending mode to put all the pieces together and made other adjustments related to color correction such as Levels and Saturation.
